JIC Leasing expands fleet with two new 63,500‑DWT bulk carriers
JIC Leasing held a naming and delivery ceremony at Jiangsu SOHO Shipyard on April 8 to mark the successful handover of two newly built 63,500‑DWT bulk carriers. This milestone represents JIC Leasing’s efforts in supporting China’s modernization and advancing the high-quality development of the marine economy.

Present at the ceremony were Yang He, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and General Manager of JIC Leasing; Ding Hai, Vice President of Jiangsu SOHO Holdings Group; and Zhou Jinglai, Party Committee Secretary and General Manager of Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company (Chipolbrok). Other attendees included Tian Wenyuan, Standing Committee Member of Yizheng Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Economic Development Zone Management Committee; and Zhou Zhiyong, Vice President of Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute. Yang Yalin, Deputy General Manager of JIC Leasing, and Jiang Nan, Deputy General Manager of Minmetals Logistics, unveiled and named the two vessels, while industry partners gathered to witness the occasion.

The newly delivered Anshun and Ankang are 63,500‑DWT Ultramax bulk carriers – one of the most favored vessel types in the international bulk shipping market. Equipped with Eco Modern green engines, the vessels feature excellent energy efficiency, low carbon emissions and strong environmental performance. With outstanding cargo adaptability and operational flexibility, they deliver economic value and environmental benefits.
The successful delivery of these two vessels not only strengthens JIC Leasing’s fleet capacity and optimizes its fleet structure, but also marks a new phase in the development of its shipping business toward a younger and more efficient fleet. The vessels will start operations immediately upon delivery, providing strong support to the lessee, Chipolbrok, in implementing its “mixed bulk and general cargo” business strategy and promoting diversified and high-quality growth in its shipping operations.

To date, JIC Leasing’s shipping fleet has grown to 40 vessels. Looking ahead, the company will continue to fulfill its mission, support national strategies and promote domestically built ships and the circulation of Chinese goods. Leveraging its leasing expertise, JIC Leasing will actively participate in China’s maritime powerhouse strategy, explore collaborations on high-tech vessels, and provide financial support for the high-quality development of China’s shipping industry – contributing to the steady and sustainable growth of the blue economy.
